Gumballs. 5 January 2013. Fargo, ND
This photo was extremely spontaneous. I was wandering around a grocery store I had never been in, saw these, pointed them out to my sister. Unexpected but wonderful memories returned to us tonight. I will cherish every one of them.
Story time: When I was a child, my great-aunt and uncle used to have a small gumball machine. My sister and I would turn the knob on the machine, cheer or groan over the color of the gumball, then pop it in our mouths. We’d only chew the gumball for a few minutes, then once it lost its flavor, we’d spit it out and get a new one. Eventually, we were limited by our grandparents to only 3 gumballs per kid per visit.
